    50 grams butter, softened
    50 grams sugar
    75 grams plain flour
20 grams ground almonds or ground hazelnuts
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    2. Lightly flour an ungreased baking tray.

    3. Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl, gradually add the flour, a little at a time and knead well together. Knead in the nuts.

    4. When the dough feels smooth, roll into small balls the size of walnuts and pat into round biscuit shapes about 3cm across.

    5. Place well apart on a tray, sprinkle the centre of each biscuit with a little cinnamon.

    6. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Take care not to let the biscuits get too brown. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.

    Makes 10-12 biscuits.
